WHAT TO DO IN
NEW ORLEANS
Your guide to the Crescent City!
Hello beloved friend and/or family member! Since this wedding is semi-destination (since it's Nick's hometown), we want to make sure we equip you with all the information you need for a great stay in the Big Easy (New Orlean's nickname). Below are some of our favorite food spots, bars, tourist attractions and sights, from a local and a tourist!

All pictures were taken by us, so you know we've actually tried/eaten these experiences!
Known for its beignets (fluffy, square-shaped doughnuts covered in powdered sugar) it's a must-see for any first timer.
Cafe du Monde
These little lobsters (at least I think they're lobsters) are a staple. Eat them in a boil or in pasta or beignets
Crawfish
Amazing breakfast/brunch place with great eggs benedict on biscuits and other southern staples
The Ruby Slipper
Kevin swears it's the best burger he's had. Great flavors, tator tots and milkshakes, and it's a local chain.
The Company Burger
Pretty cool restaurant in a refurbished church, with a great cocktail selection and moody interior.
Vessel
The best chicken fingers when you're a few Hurricanes in on Bourbon St and need someplace to hide from creeps
Willie's Chicken Shack
Historic square in the French Quarter with a statue of Andrew Jackson (yuck) but a pretty cathedral and park.
Jackson Square
Actually named Buckner Mansion, this is the house were American Horror Story: Coven was filmed.
AHS Coven House
Nick's favorite place is Parkway Bakery & Tavern for these french bread sandwiches. Classics are catfish or shrimp and "dressed" means with lettuce, tomato and mayo
Po' Boys
A really great affogato bar in the Central Business District with flavors like matcha or bananas foster.
Drip Affogato Bar
The city's best rooftop bar with an amazing view and creative cocktails.
Hot Tin
One of the last remaining steamboats in the country. It's a great cruise with performances and a full bar on board.
The Steamboat
Natchez
Home of the world famous Hurricane cocktail. Has a great courtyard with a cool flaming water fountain.
Pat 'O Briens
New Orleans is known for its above-ground cemeteries, with pretty mausoleums of famous families and historical figures. Book a tour or check out the public ones.
Cemeteries
A great Italian restaurant with nice cocktails and amazing pasta dishes.
Avo
Home of the New Orleans Saints, this is an amazing sports venue. If you can go to a Saints game, I highly recommend it, the space is something else
The Superdome
Beautiful trees covered in Spanish moss, this park houses the New Orleans Museum of Art, Cafe du Monde and lots of pretty sights.
City Park
A must-visit if you want that world famous Creole New Orleans food. Very quirky decor and expect a wait but delicious food.
Jacques-Imo's
Innovative and immersive museum focused on both the Pacific and European theaters.Honestly one of the best museums I've been to.
World War II Museum
One of New Orlean's fanciest restaurants. Very classy (dress code!) but with great food (try the banana's foster - Nick's favorite dessert).
Commander's Palace
A cute flea market by the French Quarter filled with local vendors, food stands and musicians. Perfect for souvenir shopping!
French Market
New Orlean's best beer. Home of the Abita Purple Haze beer which is Kevin's favorite. A bit of a drive but worth going for the flights and limited editions.
Abita Brewery
The house of Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. A must see shop for those interested in the history of syncretic beliefs in the U.S.
Marie Laveau's House of Voodoo
One of the few places in the U.S. where you can see Komodo Dragons, fearsome monitor lizards who's claws are poisonous to the touch.
Audobon Zoo
A no-frills classic diner experience. Nick used to go there after school, and needed a permission slip to take the streetcar.
Camellia Grill
Boat tours of Louisiana's majestic and mysterious swamps. We recommend the Honey Island Cypress Swamp tours.
Swamp Tours
A great art museum in City Park with collections spanning from the contemporary to French artist and even ancient American pieces.
