Frequently Asked Questions
Hello! Below are some answers to a lot of questions you might have. If we didn't answer it fully, please feel free to email us at MilianFalba2020@gmail.com!
1.
Q: What precautions are being made for COVID-19?
A: New Orleans is requiring proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test taken 72 hours before to get into most indoor public spaces. This includes our wedding venue. Guests should be prepared to show vaccine cards or a negative covid test at the door. We will be complying with all guidelines set forth by the city, which right now means masked staff and proof of vaccination or a negative covid test to enter. But our goal is to have as normal a wedding as possible. Both grooms' families and the wedding party are vaccinated, and with the city enforcing that all attendees and staff are vaccinated, we think we can do this without risking anyone's health. If you have any further questions or concerns, please shoot us a text or call us anytime.
2.
Q. Is there a dress code for the wedding?
A: Yes the dress code for our wedding is black tie optional, so dark suits, tuxedos, formal gowns, mid-to-floor-length evening dresses, or something similarly elegant. The venue is indoors and air conditioned, and New Orleans is typically cool in the fall, but it might be rainy and/or hot since climate change is an unfortunate reality.
3.
Q: Can I bring a date?
A: We have a strict headcount with the venue, so our wedding is RSVP only. We will only able to accommodate those listed on your invitation and wedding reminder.
4.
Q. I'm not from New Orleans, where should I stay?
A: We have a few hotel blocks setup in Downtown New Orleans on the edge of the French Quarter. The details are on our Travel & Hotel page. Additionally, New Orleans has a lot of available AirBnBs and cheaper hotel options near Metairie (a suburb) and the airport. Uber and Lyft are available throughout the city and go to all these places so you shouldn't have to worry about accessibility.
5.
Q. What kind of food will be served?
A: We are having a traditional New Orleans "cocktail-style" wedding reception, where instead of seated dinner, we'll have various food stations and hors d'oeuvres available from start to finish. There will be all kinds of food options, but the focus will be New Orleans staples like seafood, Creole and Cajun dishes.
6.
Q. Where are the ceremony and the reception taking place?
A: Our ceremony and reception will all take place in the same room, the Atrium of the Lakefront Airport. We're heathens so no need for a second location at a church.
7.
Q: Does your wedding have a theme?
A: We don't have a theme, but our venue is an Art Deco building and we're decorating to highlight that. We're calling it "Moody Romantic Art Deco NOT GREAT GATSBY." While our decor has a theme, we're not expecting it from our guests--dress as elegantly as you would for any black tie optional wedding.
8.
Q: How do I get to the venue?
A: The Lakefront Airport is about a 15-20 minute car ride from most places in New Orleans and has free parking. Uber and Lyft can take you there! After the reception is over, we will be providing shuttle buses to take guests back to the Sheraton (one of the hotel blocks). Please let us know if you would be interested in this when you RSVP.
9.
Q: What time should I arrive?
A: We recommend that you arrive an 15-20 minutes before the start of the ceremony to make sure everyone is on time and we can get started as scheduled!
10.
Q: Can I take and post pictures of the wedding on social media?
A: Yes (with the exception of the ceremony), we encourage our guests to post pictures on social media, our only request is that you tag each photo with our wedding hashtag: #NickWonAMilian so we can keep track of all your pictures and benefit from the social media consulting we paid for. #sponsored #ad
11.
Q: Where are you registered?
A: We are registered at Bloomingdales, Macy's, Crate & Barrel, and William Sonoma. We will also have a location for gifts at the wedding and have a honeymoon fund set up back in our registry page.
12.
Q: Are there any colors we should not wear?
A: There may not be a bride, but we're holding onto the taboo about wearing white unless you're one of the ones getting married! And just a heads up, our wedding party colors are burgundy and dark purple (think eggplant), just in case you don't want to be mistaken for the #squad.
13.
Q: Are there any local places you recommend I visit while in town?
A: Yes! There's a whole NOLA guide page on this website, filled with our recommendations.
14.
Q: Do I have to RSVP by mail or can I RSVP online?
A: We're only doing RSVP online, because it's environmentally friendly (sea turtles) and we want to deprive the U.S. Postal Service from getting your coin!
15.
Q: Will last names be changing after the wedding?
A: YES! We're actually entering the Witness Protection Program, so new names, faces, occupations, locations, etc! We won't be sharing them here for security reasons, but if you ever see us again in Milwaukee...*shrug*
16.
Q: Can I take photos/videos/boomerangs during your ceremony?
A: No, we ask that all guest refrain from taking photos or videos during the ceremony since we have a professional photographer, videographer and drone artist recording it from every angle. We do not want your iPhones, Androids, or Pixels showing up in our pictures!
17.
Q: Can I bring my children?
A: While we love your little ones, our wedding is going to be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. The only children you will see during our wedding are my nieces and nephews but they are paid employees of the event and SHOULD NOT BE DISTURBED! Please don't talk to them or bother them during their working hours.
